How It Works
When you

and recovery needs. That's because GT eBackup CONNECT™ Secure Network
Storage combines backup, archiving and retrieval in one easy-to-use
package.
Backup your data
anytime, from any specified workstation, with the click of a button. Or
let the GT eBackup CONNECT™ Secure Network Storage system do it for you
at an automatically scheduled time. And when you need to recover your
data, it is only a mouse-click away.
Client/Server environment
provides distributed users with a transparent interface to network services. The
Client component is designed as a simple user interface that helps
eliminate user and administrator error while providing maximum
flexibility. The ability to run in an immediate or a deferred mode gives
maximum responsiveness, while allowing backups to run automatically
after setup. Files are stored at a separate location but are readily
available for immediate use.
The Server resides on an MVS/ESA system and
communicates using TCP/IP. MVS provides the best automated data
integrity and recovery services available. Initiation of any function
can take place at the Client, making daily or even more frequent backups
automatic. Restart at the point of failure in any session is automatic.
eBackup (GT eBackup CONNECT™) also manages your stored backup data by deleting
from the backup pool those files that no longer exist on the Client.
Deleted files are then retained for a user-specified period to protect
files that are accidentally deleted.
