If someone sends you an email message and you would like to send him or her a message
back, you can use reply. There are two forms of reply,
Reply to Authorand
Reply
to All. In most cases you will use
Reply to Author. When you receive a message
that has been sent to multiple addresses you can use
Reply to Allto send a message to the author of the original email message and to
all the people that person sent their message.
Reply to Authorwould send a reply to the
person who sent the original message.
Single left click on
Reply to Authoror
Reply to All. The result is the
same as clicking on
Compose Messageexcept that the new email
message is auto-addressed to the person who sent the original message.
Also the message is automatically given a subject. The subject is the same
as the original email's subject with a "Re:" in front of it which
signifies the message is a reply. The last difference is the original
message is quoted in your reply. You will see all the text from the
original message in the body of your new email message. If the message
text is not important then you can delete it. If you are replying to a
long email message than it is a good idea to delete unimportant parts of
the original message.
Forwarding an Email Message:
If you receive an email message from one person and wish to send it to someone else you
can use
Forward Message.
Forward
Messageis much like reply except
that the
To:field is left blank. The original message is quoted and the original
email's subject appears in the
Subject:field
of the new message with a
"Fw:" in front of it signifying the message is a forward. Along with text in the
body of the original message you can add your own message and send the message.
